Well, after a bit of a false start, Samsung finally seems to have done it. According to a new blog post on the official Samsung Tomorrow blog, the Korean consumer electronics giant has finally begun to push their Ice Cream Sandwich update out to the Galaxy S IIs of the world.

And with that, Galaxy S II owners began once again to feel the love. Or at least, most of them did. The update in question is meant for international spec Galaxy S II (the GT-I9100), so State-side owners of a AT&T/T-Mobile Galaxy S II or a Sprint Epic 4G Touch won’t be joining in the official fun just yet.

Aside from going live in the company’s native Korea later today, users in Poland, Hungary, and Sweden will be among the first to get the long-awaited update via the Kies software manager. Rest assured that other markets will soon follow, though Samsung doesn’t get any more specific than that.

In their official announcement, Samsung has also confirmed that the Ice Cream Sandwich update will “follow soon” for the Galaxy Note, Galaxy S II LTE, and the 8.9 and 10.1-inch Galaxy Tabs. On top of that, Samsung will soon push out new updates that bring features like Face Unlock and a revamped photo editor to devices like the Galaxy S (and its Super Clear LCD variant), Galaxy Tab 7, Galaxy S Plus, and the Galaxy W.

Though there’s no word yet on when any of these updates will hit, expect Samsung to mistakenly announce it on their Indonesian portal before pulling the post and telling people to watch their Twitter account for news instead.

Murtazin: The Samsung Galaxy S II Will See Ice Cream Sandwich On March 1

Notorious industry insider Eldar Murtazin has made yet another forward-looking statement, this time regarding Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich and one very special Samsung device. This leaves just one question in our minds: Is this one of his hits, or is it another miss?

According to a tweet (below) from the Moscow-based blogger, Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich will be delivered to the Samsung Galaxy S II. After its regional offices had announced which devices would receive ICS, Samsung confirmed in December that the GS II, the Galaxy Note, and Galaxy Tab models will get Android 4.0 in the first quarter of 2012.

Android 4 aka ics for sgs2 will be officially available from march 1(depends from country/operator). Update over the air or using kies

Murtazin’s comments are in line with the time-table given by Samsung, but his prediction seems to exclude the Galaxy Tabs and the Note. At the same time, the Galaxy S II is in over 10 million hands so perhaps Mr. Murtazin just decided to lead with the flagship. Or he only has information on the Galaxy S II.

Either way, this gives us something fun to think about.

Even if the Galaxy Tab and Note updates are released a little bit after the Galaxy S II, chances are we can assume that the much-anticipated Galaxy S III will launch with ICS.

Here’s why: The GS III isn’t launching at MWC. If Murtazin is right about a March 1 OTA update, and the GS III launch is undoubtedly post-March 1, it’s pretty safe to assume that ICS will be ready to ship on the GS III along with its predecessor.

‘Twas The Night Before Christmas (Revisited)

christmas_eve

‘Twas the night before Christmas, when all through the house
Not an ultrabook was whirring, not a touchpad nor mouse.
The stockings were hung by the chimney with care,
With hopes they were stuffed with Thunderbolt MacBook Airs.

The children were nestled all snug in their beds,
While visions of Galaxy Tabs danced in their heads.
And ma in her ‘kerchief, and I with my apps,
Had settled our texting thumbs for a long winter’s nap.

When out on the lawn there arose such a clatter,
I sprang from my standing desk to see what was the matter.
To the Nest thermostat I flew like a flash,
I turned up the heat, and to the window I dashed.

The moon on the breast of the new-fallen snow
Was no task for my PowerShot, even when light is low.
Then, what to my wondering eyes should appear,
But an iPhone 4S! At it, everyone leered.

With a little A5 chip, so lively and quick,
I knew in a moment: this new iPhone is slick.
More rapid than eagles, web pages they came,
And the camera, and iOS 5, and the Retina Display!

“Now Siri! You listen to what I command!
You are but a humble female in my hand!
The words that I say may give you some trouble,
but don’t go around bursting everyone’s bubble!”

And though it was welcome, the new Nexus was shy,
It took more than a month to finally arrive.
But once it appeared with LTE, it flew,
With a big-ass touchscreen, and ICS, too.

Santa couldn’t compete with the gadgets we owned,
And his new Nissan Leaf was running on low,
But I heard him exclaim, ‘ere he drove out of sight,
“Happy Christmas to all, and to all a good-night!”
